| Almost all of our members are trained to the awareness levels of both Water Rescue and Ice Rescue. Additionally, we have members who have gone on to complete both Water Rescue and Ice Rescue at the Technician level. This extra training allows us to respond appropriately to water emergencies when called. In the past year, we have been dispatched to calls ranging from a lost swimmer in a creek to rescuing victims trapped in their vehicles due to flash flooding.
We also carry and inflatable rescue raft on Rescue 16. This raft allows us to access victims, transport victims to safety and carry equipment to where it is needed. Lancaster County has several fire companies who have motorized boats, but this raft allows us to deploy while waiting for those resources to arrive on-scene. The raft also allows us to safely navigate shallower water where a motorized boat may not be able to access.
We also have a line launcher which helps to get rope to the far side of waterways. Using rope stretched across a creek is an integral part of being able to safely rescue someone. This tools assists us doing this in a fast and efficient manner.
Our training, the inflatable raft, and all of the safety equipment that we wear (suits, helmet, life vests, etc.) would not be possible without the donations from our community. We are here to help you. Help us, help you and donate today! |
