Over the last week, residents of Ephrata Borough, Ephrata Township and Clay Township received our annual fund drive in the mail. Over the next several weeks we are going to share information, firefighting facts or answer your questions every Friday.
This week's question is "What is RIT?" RIT stands for Rapid Intervention Team and is a fire ground job that we often find ourselves doing since we have a Rescue truck. The objective is to have a fully equipped rescue team on scene and in a ready state to deploy for rescuing injured and trapped firefighters. You can often find the RIT team standing close to the fire building in a ready state carrying a variety of equipment that may be needed. If a firefighter inside finds themselves in trouble, they call a Mayday (distress signal) and the RIT goes into action to locate the firefighter(s) and get them to safety.
We know that times are tough for many of us, however, we ask that you please consider giving to our fund drive as the money received is important to our general operations and equipment maintenance. Any amount helps us, help you.
If you have a question or want to know about something we do, let us know and you may find it featured on the next Fund Drive Friday! |
