Retired Apparatus
We are working on making sure that you know the story of the Lincoln Fire Company and the apparatus that has served the community in the past. These trucks are part of our history and tell the stories of the past.
If you have known the history or have pictures of any of our apparatus before, during or after their service to the Lincoln Fire Company, please feel free to send them to us and we will post them.
The earliest equipment used by the Fire Company were primarily buckets and a Hand Pumper. In 1926, the Fire Company purchased a 1926 Reo chassis and installed a new Hale engine body on it. Cost of this was $4,325.60. After serving the Company faithfully for many years, as well as sitting idle for several more, it was finally sold to J. Henry Hummer who restored it. It was later sold to Mr. James L. Schwartz, Mifflinburg, PA., another former Fire Company member who did further restoration work on it. In September of 1989, Mr. Schwartz sold this truck back to the company at a cost of $8,000.00. It continues to be maintained in working order and has been dedicated to the memory of Luke J. Good, a deceased member of the company. The Reo Pumper was replaced by a 1947 Hahn Pumper which was purchased at a price of $12,000.00.

This truck was purchased by the Lincoln Fire Company from Winslow Township, NJ for and faithfully served as Engine 16-2 until it was replaced in 2016. The 1993 truck replaced Lincoln's 1974 Hahn engine. The truck had a 6-person crew cab, 2000 GPM pump, 1000 gallon booster tank, standard engine company tools, two Amkus portable power units, two spreaders, three cutters, two rams, three air bags, RIT equipment, and water rescue equipment. This piece of apparatus was certified as an Engine/Rescue and was dispatched first out on non structure type calls. This truck was replaced in 2016, by a Pierce Enforcer.
1989 Ford Ranger
Purchased in 1990 by the Lincoln Fire Company. This piece of apparatus was a 17-ft box unit. Purchase price was $139,000. This truck was sold out-of-state in 2010, when the Ephrata Area Rescue Service merged with Lincoln Fire Company. This unit was replaced by a 2004 KME Rescue Truck which had originally served Madera Fire Company in Clearfield County, PA.
1974 Hahn
In late 2000, the Company replaced the 1974 Hahn with a pre-owned 1993 Pierce engine formally used by Winslow Township, New Jersey. This unit was secured under a lease-purchase plan, the first for the Company. The 1974 Hahn was sold to the town of Screamer, Alabama, where it serves the residents of that small community.
1969 American LaFrance Pumper
In 1969, this piece of equipment replaced the company's 1947 Hahn pumper. The cost of this purchase was approximately $34,000.00. The American LaFrance was replaced with the purchase of a new pumper from Pierce in 1992 (the current Engine 16-1).
Ephrata Area Rescue Service
In July of 2010, the Ephrata Area Rescue Service merged into the Lincoln Fire Co. and the company began to provide rescue service to the area. A 2004 KME Rescue Truck was purchased, which previously served the Madera Fire Co. in Clearfield County. The 1989 Ranger Squad Truck, as well as a 1995 Smeal, formerly owned by the Rescue Service was sold to organizations out of state.
Since the merger, the Lincoln Fire Company has expanded the rescue services provided to the community. The Rescue is now equipped with a variety of tools and equipment to assist with vehicle rescues. The Rescue also carries equipment essential for confined spaces, trenches, building collapses, and water rescues. Additionally, the Lincoln Fire Company is often called upon to act as a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) for our mutual aid companies. This specialized team utilizes our rescue skills and equipment to rescue firefighters who may be trapped, injured or otherwise incapacitated.
Lincoln Fire Company is happy to be a provider of rescue services to Ephrata and the surrounding communities.
