Lincoln Fire Co. and other 1st and 2nd alarm stations were dispatched to a working 4-unit townhouse fire at 1078 Hammon Ave., Ephrata Twp. First arriving units found heavy smoke from the second floor of the end unit. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes of arrival. The fire was confined to the end unit, with minor smoke in the neighboring unit.
Damage is estimated at $105,000.00, with property saved in excess of $800,000.00. The State Police Fire Marshal found the cause to be a young juvenile visitor lighting a candle and setting combustibles on fire in a bedroom closet.
Stations assisting Lincoln included: Ephrata Pioneer, Akron, Stevens, Denver, Mt Airy, Reamstown, Air 1, Brickerville, Brunnerville, Martindale, and West Earl. EMS units responded from Ephrata, Rothsville and Reamstown, as well as Ephrata Police and PSP Fire Marshall.
